These FAQs will help you to understand how DLP works, how to register and to answer many questions you may have about the processes to successfully complete the training. By registering for the DLP, you are acknowledging that you have read, understood and accepted this information, the information and rules for DLP students and the Terms and Conditions.
How do I access content?
DLP modules are housed on our online platform Agribility at elearning.gafta.com. Once you have registered and paid for your module, you will be given an access link, username and password.
Once you have logged in, click on your module and press ‘content’ in the top ribbon menu.
When will I get access to the content?
DLP module content is available on the day the module opens, as long as you have paid.
How long do I get access to the content?
Your license gives you access for the duration of the module, up until the final assignment has been marked and grades have been awarded. After this, your access to the module will be disabled.
I have paid for all 6 modules, will I be automatically registered for the next one?
No, you will be automatically enrolled for module 1 but then you must register for the next semester of your choice using this form: www.gafta.com/DLP-Next-Module-Selector
If the module starts and my company hasn't paid, will I get access to the content?
No, you will only be enrolled and given access to the content, after you have paid.
I am logged in but I can't see my module, why?
If you cannot see your next module, check the start date (you will not get access before the start date). If the start date has already passed, check that you have paid for the module. If you need additional support email events@gafta.com
I lost my password
To reset your password, use the 'forgotten password' link on the Agribility platform
How does the DLP work?
All content is accessed online via Agribility, either through your browser or via the Pulse app. Each module is made up of self-study materials, live online tutorials, exams and a final written assignment. There is a dedicated calendar for each module which includes deadlines.
How do I book for the DLP?
Book all 6 modules in a discounted bundle:
DLP Registrations
Book individual modules:
Events
Book your next module in the series (prepaid bundle students only) www.gafta.com/DLP-NextModule-Selector
If you select the bundle package, you can still choose when you complete your modules and take them one-at-a-time.
Should I buy all 6 modules at once, or purchase modules individually?
If you plan to complete the full DLP programme, we recommend you purchase all 6 modules in the bundle package, as this is cheaper than buying them individually. After you have purchased the bundle you have 5 years to complete all 6 modules.
Can I register for 1 module only, or do I have to do all 6?
Yes, you can do individual modules or take all 6, it is up to you.
I signed up for a module on a specific date, but now I don't have time, can I get a refund?
No, once your licence on the platform has been issued, no refund or credit can be given.
How many assignments are there?
Each module has several assignments: some quizzes and one final written paper. Please refer to your instructions and module calendar to see deadlines. Students must pass every assignment in order to pass the module.
Are there assignment deadlines?
Yes, all assignments must be completed by the deadlines given in your module instructions.
Can I get assignment extensions?
No (as a rule). Extensions are only granted in exceptional circumstances, such as bereavement, illness etc. Students are expected to manage their own workload and balance it appropriately with their day-today responsibilities. An increased workload/business trip does not constitute exceptional circumstances. Extensions are entirely at Gafta’s discretion.
How do I request an extension?
Extensions for first attempt written assignments:
Email events@gafta.com a minimum of 5 working days before the deadline.
Extensions for written assignment resubmission deadlines:
Email events@gafta.com on the day you receive feedback for your first submission.
What if I have not requested an extension but I submit late?
These submissions will be considered late and are subject to additional fees for marking (see "Late submission fees” below)
How long should I spend on each assignment?
Quizzes: at least 30 minutes
Written assignment: 2-4 hours
Who marks my assignments?
Quiz assignments are marked automatically. Written assignments are marked by the module tutor, who will be either an internal or external Gafta expert.
When will my assignment be marked?
We aim to mark all assignments within 1-2 weeks after the submission deadline.
When and how can I get my certificate?
Once all your assignments have been marked, if you have passed, a certificate will be downloadable from the ‘Awards’ area in Agribility.
Can I submit my assignment early?
Yes, you can submit your written assignment at any time, however it will not be marked before the deadline.
How do I pass the assignments?
Each assignment is related to the content within the module. You must read each section carefully and apply your knowledge in order to pass. Attending tutorial sessions will help you understand the material enough to pass your assignments.
Quizzes: The pass mark is 80%. You have 3 attempts to pass each quiz and you will be shown your mistakes at the end of each attempt, so you know what to revise. Written assignments: The grade is pass or fail. You have 2 attempts to pass the written assignment (see “what if I fail an assignment” below for the rules relating to resubmissions).
Where can I see my assignment feedback?
Quizzes: At the end of each quiz attempt the platform will instantly show you which questions you got wrong.
Written assignments: Go to the ‘Assignments’ area of the platform to view your feedback. You are expected to check for feedback daily after uploading a submission to ensure you don’t miss your feedback and any resubmission deadline. Students have the option to set up notifications on the platform so you receive an alert when feedback has been published. Gafta take no responsibility for deadlines missed due to students not checking for feedback or receiving notifications.
What if I fail an assignment?
Quizzes: You will get 3 chances to pass each quiz assignment. At the end of your first attempt, you will see which questions you got wrong, so you have a chance to go back and re-read the relevant content before you attempt the quiz again. If you fail all 3 attempts, you have unfortunately failed the module and will have to re-sit.
Written assignments: Your first submission will be marked by the tutor and feedback will be given on the platform. If you have passed, a 'pass' grade will be assigned. If you have failed, the tutor will give you some tips on what you have missed, and you will get 1 chance to re-submit within 5 days of the feedback being given. If you fail your resubmission, you have failed the assignment and the module.
If you fail to resubmit within 5 days, you have failed the assignment and the module.
How long do I have to resubmit my 2nd written assignment attempt?
5 days from the date the feedback was given.
I can't finish my resubmission within 5 days, what do I do?
See “How do I request an extension?” above for rules on deadline extensions.
What if I submit my assignment late without an extension?
A fee applies to every late submission.
A late submission is:
• Any final written assignment submitted after the module deadline without an extension being granted
• A re-submission that has been uploaded to the platform more than 5 days after the tutor has published their feedback on a student’s assignment without an extension being granted
• Any assignment submitted after the extension deadline has passed
Late submission fees:
• 1st assignment: £250+VAT
• Resubmission: £150 +VAT
Assignments submitted more than 8 weeks after the module deadline will not be considered, unless agreed in advance by Gafta.
I don't agree that I have failed my assignment, what can I do?
Tutors will give very clear guidance to students who have failed their first attempt at the written
assignment, to ensure they know which topic areas they need to revisit and revise. If the student
does not demonstrate that they have read and understood the feedback and adjusted their
assignment accordingly, a failing grade will be given. This grade is final. If you believe that a genuine
mistake has been made, or the wrong file has been marked, you can contact the administrator at
events@gafta.com, however this is not an opportunity for students to argue their case further, or
submit further attempts.
Plagiarism
Any student who is found to have plagiarised their work will receive an automatic failing grade for
that module. If an original piece of work is re-submitted within 48 hours, then this will be considered
and marked by the course tutor. Students who repeatedly plagiarise their assignments may have
their course access revoked and be excluded from the opportunity to take the Gafta Arbitrator
Diploma. No refunds will be issued in this case.
What happens if I fail a module?
If you fail the module, you will have to resit in another semester. A resit incurs the full module fee
again. If you have pre-purchased all 6 modules, the resit will take one of your 6 ‘credits’ and you will
need to pay the full module fee for the final module(s) once you reach that point in your study.
How do tutorials work?
Tutorials are group video calls made within the ‘Virtual Classroom’ area of your module. They take 1
hour and are at set times (please check your schedule) and are designed to allow students to discuss
a set case study or key content with experienced trade professionals.
When are the tutorials?
Tutorial dates and times are listed in the instructions issued at the beginning of the module; these
appear in UK time. They are also viewable in the Calendar and Virtual Classroom areas of the
module.
Tutorial times in the Calendar and Virtual Classroom on the platform automatically adjust to your
local time zone.
Are tutorials compulsory?
Case study tutorials are mandatory, all others are optional, however we strongly recommend that
you attend all tutorials. Students who attend are statistically more likely to pass assignments.
Can I download the tutorial recording?
You can download tutorials recordings for 14 days post tutorial. After this time recordings are no
longer available.
Can I contact the tutor to discuss content when there isn’t a tutorial scheduled?
No. Students are not permitted to contact tutors outside of tutorial hours
Can I access the materials on my phone or tablet?
Yes, but you will need a wifi connection or mobile data enabled.
Can I download the content?
Yes, there is a 'download' button in each module which allows you to save content. Please be aware
that after you complete your module, you will lose access to the content on Agribility. We encourage
students to download and save the content to refer back to later.
How do I get my certificate?
Your certificate will be automatically generated by the platform when an overall 'pass' grade is applied to you. You can find your certificate in the 'Awards' section of the platform. If you cannot see your certificate straight away, please wait up to 15 minutes, refresh your page and try again.
Can I study on my phone/tablet?
Yes, but you will need a wifi or data connection. You can download the content to read offline on any
device. Students are encouraged to download the 'Brightspace Pulse' app which will convert the
content into a more device-friendly format and can be set up to send push notifications.
What are the 'semesters'?
There are 3 ‘semesters’ each year – January, April and September. All 6 modules run in each
semester.
Can I take more than 1 module at a time?
Yes, although we do not recommend doing this alongside full-time work as the workload for each
module is a significant commitment. Please be aware that students who take multiple modules at
once usually under perform.
Do I have to take the modules in numerical order?
No, but we strongly recommend that you do. Content is designed to flow from one module to the
next and knowledge of material from earlier modules can be vital to a complete understanding of the
later ones.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes, if you pass all the assignments you will get a certificate at the end of each module.
What language is the course in?
The DLP is only available in English.
How long does it take to complete the full DLP?
Students usually take between 2-3 years to complete the full programme.
How is the DLP structured?
The DLP is made up of 6 modules covering different content areas.
How often do the modules run?
There are 3 ‘semesters’ in each year – January, April and September. All 6 modules run in each
semester.
How long is each module?
Each module takes approximately 12 weeks to complete.
Does the DLP expire?
Yes, DLP modules are only valid for 5 years from the last date of the module.
Does the DLP count as my training requirement for the Trade Diploma and/or Arbitrator Diploma
exams?
Yes, if you pass all 6 modules of the DLP and they have been taken within the last 5 years.
Can I do some DLP modules and some face-to-face GDP courses and still take the Trade Diploma or
Arbitrator Diploma exams if I pass them all?
No, the DLP and GDP programmes are separate routes to the Trade Diploma. Each is specifically
tailored to work as a complete program of learning and although the content is the same overall,
modules and courses are structured so differently that they are not interchangeable.
